Vancouver Youth Model United Nations 2020 remains scheduled to run as planned this fall from October 30th to November 1st.

The health and safety of delegates, chaperones, our staff, and the Whistler community at large is our highest priority, and we will continue to closely monitor the potential health concerns regarding COVID-19, taking guidance from the appropriate health advisory organizations and government.

Over the next several months leading up to and through the conference, the Secretariat team will be taking the appropriate measures to ensure that we can put together a safe, immersive educational experience. We are prepared to adapt the traditional structure of our conference in terms of numbers and layout, although we can not say for sure at this point what that will look like, but please note that registration fees may differ from past years.

Some of these measures may include:

  • Reduced conference size to meet government guidelines

  • Recommending that Whistler and Squamish schools have delegates stay at home overnight during the conference for a reduced fee

  • Housing delegates in rooms of 2 opposed to 4 to avoid delegates sharing beds

  • Providing more meal options to reduce the amount of delegates going to restaurants in the village

  • Using distanced floor plans within committee rooms to reduce close interaction

  • Reduced size or staggered opening and closing ceremonies

  • Adapted format for the delegate social

As we get closer to the conference date, more details will be added to the website. In the meantime, should you have any specific questions or concerns, please feel free to email secretarygeneral@vymun.com.
